Biography

Steven Ziebell is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who serves children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Ziebell has clinical strengths in dealing with school based issues and performance, and in working with couples to strengthen and restore relationships which are vital in their effect on the family as a whole. Clients who request spiritually based interventions and Christian counseling are also well served by Steve.  Dr. Ziebell practices using cognitive behavioral therapy that promotes insight, healing, and reconciliations of relationships.

Dr. Ziebell has served the Des Moines community in a variety of capacities throughout his career, including as a consultant to mental health facilities and as a clinical provider in outpatient clinics, residential treatment centers and hospitals. He has taught social work and counseling courses at the University of Iowa School of Social Work and at Drake University and has served on advising boards for spiritual organizations in the community. Steve is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers, and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Steve accepts most all major insurance plans. He has been married for 40 years and has two married sons.

Therapist’s Statement

I revel in all things connected to summer-flip-flops, ocean beaches, and especially fishing.  My passion is to catch the next monster game fish, but I will settle for anything that bites!  I love God, my family and friends, Iowa, and teaming with those who courageously pursue change to enhance their lives, that of their loved ones, and the Kingdom of God.
